As some of you may know, I am a member of the Facebook group: Beloved Collective. This is a group of photogs from around the country that utilize the Beloved technique in their photography. Inspired by a post on Petapixels about creativity, they have asked us to take a play break. A play break is a time out: a creative challenge to immerse ourselves in the little details that surround us. It is simply an opportunity to "play" and connect in the Beloved way.
For this challenge, I was asked to take a play break with something that is extremely meaningful to me. Say "hello" to Muffin...
This little guy was one of the gifts I received when I was pregnant with my first child. Just holding this little stuffed animal brings memories flooding back. I distinctly remember rocking Muffin in my son's nursery before he was born. I had so many unanswered questions:
Would I be a good mommy? Would I be strong enough to raise a new baby? Would he love me forever (just like the book claimed)?
Picking muffin as my play break today was a bit surreal for me. As I focused on this little toy, I noticed the wear on it's face. Most of the material has worn off. It can no longer sit up on it's own and the stuffing inside has long since been "fluffy." It made me reflect on where "it" has been and where I (and my son) are going in the very near future.
My son turned 11 in April. He no longer needs his blankie, and barely asks for help from me anymore. He is embarking on a new journey called "middle school" and has turned into a very respectful young man.
I guess it was normal to have questions...to be anxious about the unknown. I am glad that we both had Muffin for support when we needed it. To be honest, Muffin still has a very respectful throne in our home. Right on top of my son's bed...
Want to take a playbreak of your own?? Sit somewhere in your home or your yard and take 10 completely different pictures. Get creative, use different composition...you may discover something you never knew existed in your own little corner of the world!
Until next time...
Hi! Welcome to my blog. Stop back often to view my current work and see what I have been up to lately! It's always fun and games when it involves children, families, and a full frame camera! Enjoy! :)
